Speaking to the Media at the forecourt of Afuabi Court in Asankrangwa on 29th December, 2023, Hon Ignatius Kwasi Afrifa, a renowned businessman and NPP Parliamentary Candidate for 2024 stated with an empowering voice that he intends to create a welcoming community and foster a sense of belongingness in Wassa Amenfi West.
He said experiencing a sense of exclusion or estrangement in ones own community kills the spirit of development. According to him, everyone must feel at home; no one should feel estranged in Wassa Amenfi West . He further added that feeling at home and being a part of a community is crucial for the well-being and development of individuals. “In the Wassa Amenfi West community, it is essential that everyone feels a sense of belonging and is not estranged. I will ensure that no one feels isolated or excluded, “he added.
When individuals feel welcomed and embraced, they are more likely to contribute positively towards the community’s growth. Inclusivity also promotes diversity, understanding, and empathy among community members. It allows for the exchange of ideas, perspectives, and experiences, leading to enhanced social cohesion and collective progress.
Honourable Kwasi Afrifa said he will achieve that through various initiatives such as organizing regular community events that bring community members together, such as cultural festivals, sports tournaments, or volunteer activities, to foster a sense of belonging and encourage interaction among residents. He will also establish support networks within the community that can provide individuals with a platform to seek help, share concerns, and build connections. These networks can focus on areas such as mental health, parenting, professional development, or any other relevant topics.
Finally, he said there will be education and awareness creation by conducting workshops, seminars, or awareness campaigns on topics like inclusivity, acceptance, and cultural diversity to help raise awareness and promote understanding among community members.
