In simple terms, God created Adam and Eve to inhabit this earth and later instructed them to populate the earth. Since then, humans have faced multiple problems which we always pray to God for answers or solutions. God is not able to help directly so there is the need to send souls in different capacities (talents) in bodily form to provide solutions to our problems. We are here as a solution to all the problems facing mankind but not to please God. If we were here to please God, we would have stayed with God wherever He is to please Him. “Our problems are man-made; therefore, they may be solved by man. No problem of human destiny is beyond human beings” (John F. Kennedy). This is the reason why God designed destiny.
Is destiny a choice or chance?
The body, family and country you find yourself were chosen (destined) for you by God’s spirits to enable you to complete your mission on earth. Every work has its uniform, the same way every soul has a body, family and environment that help it to achieve its purpose. You do not put on school uniforms when you are attending church. A court judge does not put on nursing uniform when going to court. A soul needs a particular body/appearance, family, friends, community or country to achieve its purpose. This is a divine design which was pre-determined by God.
To make it clearer, it is like you have been instructed to build a house. The plan and location of the house have been pre-determined for you to complete within a given time frame. The workers and materials needed to build the house are your choices. Aside from these pre-determined situations, whatever choice you make leads you to your mission. There is no wrong or right choice but the choice you make determines how easy or difficult the path is to your mission.
“Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved” (William Jennings Bryan). This fits the French proverb that says, “You often meet your destiny on the road you take to avoid it.” The story of Jonah in the Bible has a similar connotation to this proverb. Any choice made leads to destiny. The way to accomplish your destiny is a choice but destiny is mandatory.
