The youth of Twifo Abodom in the Twifo Atti-morkwa district of the central region have clashed with their counterpart from Wassa Hemanso in the Wassa East district of the western region which has resulted in bloodshedding among the battlefield youth.

This comes after a wild misunderstanding and a violent argument ensued between the two groups when the Twifo Abodom youth attended a vigil (wake-keeping) at Wassa Hemanso during the weekend.

During the climax of the wake keeping when dancing had become unstoppable for the dancers, one of the boys from Wassa Hemanso from nowhere slapped a boy from Twifo Abodom who was busily rocking the floor with his female dancing partner.

So, the victim went back to Twifo Abodom after receiving the thunderous slap to report the incident to the youth in the community who were also sparked by the cheerless report of their friend so on Saturday morning, they also laid ambush on the youth of Wassa Hemanso where both communities battled each other with cutlasses, sticks and stones.

As a result, many of the youth from each side have sustained serious degrees of injuries who are receiving medical treatment at Ateiku health centre.

However, the Twifo Atti-morkwa district police command has intervened to
restore peace and harmony between the two communities.
