On Saturday, 13th January 2024, Hon Ignatius Kwasi Afrifa, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the 2024 general elections, held a community engagement event with the Breman Council of Elders and the entire community. Accompanied by party executives, the meeting served as an opportunity for Hon Ignatius Kwasi Afrifa to officially introduce himself to the community and share his vision, as well as understand the pressing needs of the people.
During the meeting, Hon Afrifa emphasized the importance of considering long-term benefits rather than being swayed by short-term incentives offered by politicians. This advice aimed to encourage the community to make informed decisions when it comes to voting and prioritize the long-term development of their area.
In addition, Hon Afrifa drew attention to the lack of development projects in certain areas, specifically mentioning the case of Samreboi, the largest cocoa district in Ghana. He pointed out that despite its importance, Samreboi has not benefited from crucial initiatives like the Cocoa Roads Project and the Cocoa Clinic Project. Similarly, Amenfi West, home to the largest timber company in West Africa, Samartex, suffers from inadequate road infrastructure.
Hon Afrifa identified leadership failure as the main issue plaguing Amenfi West and stressed the significance of effective leadership in addressing the needs and concerns of the community.
Following Hon Afrifa’s speech, there was an open forum for brainstorming and questions. One community member, Kwasi, expressed his frustration with the lack of development despite years of voting. He emphasized the need for a change in mindset and voting patterns to bring about positive change in the community. Another woman vehemently added that she has changed her mindset now and forever.
Overall, Hon Kwasi Afrifa’s community engagement with the Breman Traditional Leaders and the entire community provided an opportunity for dialogue, sharing of ideas, and understanding the community’s needs. It emphasized the importance of informed voting and effective leadership in driving sustainable development.
