With Ghana’s 2024 general elections fast approaching and anxieties rising, the Wassa Amenfi Old Students Association (WAWOSA) has taken a proactive step to foster peace and unity within the Amenfi West community.
The Wassa Amenfi Old Students Association (WAWOSA) will stage a significant peace walk to promote unity and peaceful elections within the Amenfi West community. The event, titled “Walk for Unity, Vote for Peace, Embrace Harmony,” will take place on Saturday, November 30th, 2024, starting at 6:00 AM from the Roman Junction on the principal street.
This will be WAWOSA’s second peace walk, demonstrating the association’s ongoing commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence within the community. The association hopes the event will have an even greater impact than the previous peace walk.
Key community leaders from across the political spectrum will participate, showcasing a united front for peace. Hon. Eric Afful (Member of Parliament for Amenfi West and NDC Parliamentary Candidate), Hon. Lord Nana Tandoh (Amenfi West Municipal Chief Executive), and Hon. Ignatius Kwasi Afrifa (NPP Parliamentary Candidate) will all join the walk, symbolizing cross-party collaboration and a shared commitment to a peaceful electoral process.
The walk will include a diverse representation of the community, inviting cadet groups from various senior high schools and tertiary institutions, as well as all students from junior high schools to tertiary students.
Several sponsors have pledged their support, reflecting the community’s commitment to the initiative. Ebbah Gee, Royal FM, Pazion Media, Rosal Innovation (a waste management company), and Version 360 Pub are among the sponsors who will contribute to the event’s success.
WAWOSA hopes that the “Walk for Unity, Vote for Peace, Embrace Harmony” will reinforce the peace that has long characterized Amenfi West. By uniting individuals from various backgrounds and political affiliations, the walk aims to promote dialogue, understanding, and a collective commitment to a peaceful and harmonious electoral process, serving as a model for other communities across Ghana. The association anticipates that this event will play a crucial role in maintaining peace during the upcoming elections.
