The Power of Influence: A Call to Action for Amenfi West Constituency

As the saying goes, “leadership is not about titles, positions, or flowcharts. It is about one life influencing another.” This quote resonates deeply, especially when examining the state of leadership in Ghana’s Amenfi West constituency.

For years, Hon. Eric Afful has represented the constituency in parliament, serving almost ten years. Despite this longevity, his influence has not yielded any remarkable positions or meaningful development for the constituency. This raises questions about the type of leaders Amenfi West presents to represent them in parliament.

The misconception that leadership in parliament is solely based on the number of years served is a notion that needs to be debunked. The recent appointment of Npp Member of parliament Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib, the newly elected mp for Weija Gbawe, as Second Deputy Minority Whip is a testament to the power of influence. Despite being a newcomer to parliament, Shaib’s influence has drawn him closer to a position of power.
The like of Hon John Dumelo who’ has now been nominated by the president as a deputy minister of Agriculture clearly Indicate that politics is about you influence and not where you are coming from .

This serves as a lesson for the people of Amenfi West. When selecting their next leader, they must prioritize influence, integrity, and effectiveness over longevity. It’s time for the constituency to demand more from their leaders and choose someone who can drive meaningful change and development.

To my surprise, most new entrants are making waves to speak on the floor of parliament, but that of Amenfi West constituency has always been a backbencher. This clearly indicates that in modern politics, your influence and activeness give you results, not how long you have served.

The people of Amenfi West deserve better. They deserve a leader who will champion their causes, bring about tangible development, and inspire positive change. As they look to the future, it’s essential to remember that influence, not longevity, is the key to effective leadership.
