THE CURE TO LAZINESS

No one is going to save you, no one is going to bail you out, no one will tell you to put the TV off, no one will tell you to learn, no one will tell you to get up from bed, no one will tell you to go and exercise, no one will write a business plan for you, no one will set goals for you, no one will add value to you. You are going to do this by yourself. You may not be who you are supposed to be not because you are not gifted but because you are not disciplined. You must not hold others accountable to your life more than you hold yourself. You must get up early on daily basis, pray, have your devotion and meditate on the word of God, draw your plans, be prepared and be set for the day, and go the extra wreck to achieve your dreams because dreams are achieved with time and the time has been divided into seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years and each one of them counts. Once you waste a second of your life part of your dream is unfulfilled. You know wasted time can never be recovered and it will cost you your life and an extra mile of hard work to accomplish that part of your dream that dies out.
You are born to be great, God didn’t create you just by an accident. The world needs you urgently. The world is sick. There is something great in you and that great thing that the world needs to recover from its illness. So why why why do you have to be lazy and waste the time? Laziness is never part of success. Laziness will make you always dream that your goals will come to pass but you have a lot of time so why the need to start now? I can tell you for a fact that laziness gives birth to procrastination. Procrastination is the theft of time; procrastination is never part of success. The spirit of procrastination kills success. Once laziness brings the disease of procrastination onto you, no doctor can heal you not even the best you know in history. This disease is chronic and kills in the long run. But thanks be to God that when you rise, change your thoughts, and start thinking about these four questions (why, why do I, why me and why not now) you will start to work hard. I know it will be tough, the road is potholed, and the line is never straight but crooked. There are mountains on the way. You will get tired, you will face challenges you have never seen before, you will fail, there are going to be setbacks, pains, afflictions, disappointments, rejections, the time of darkness will come, fears will come, you may not have the needed resources but I want you to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel so why don’t you rise my dear one.
When the spirit of laziness takes over you, you will be pathetic in this life. Your time will be stolen, it will kill you, your dreams will perish, it will entangle you, put you into bondage, and eventually put you into its prisons. Once you are in the prisons of laziness, laziness becomes your master and you become the servant. You are going to obey its voice and act on its orders. Since you are in its prisons, your potential will never be unleashed, you will lose everything that you have built and you will move from hero to zero. So why should you be lazy as a child of God who has been blessed with all physical and spiritual blessings? Proverbs 6:6-11 says “Go to the ant, though sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise; Which having no guide, overseer or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt though sleep, O sluggard? When wilt though arise out of thou sleep. Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep, So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and they want as an armed man”. Also Proverbs 13:4 says “The soul of the lazy man desires, and has nothing, but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich”. It could be seen that from the texts above God, our creator hates lazy people. God created you in His own image, yes in his image. So God is the object and you are the image. The object and the image have the same characteristics and features. There is no laziness in the character of God therefore I challenge you to wake up early, learn the word of God, pray and meditate on it, plan your daily routine, write down your goals, put your ideas to work, inspire yourself, go the extra mile, burn the midnight candle and have faith in God. Hard work doesn’t kill. I really love these words in the Presec’s school anthem ( happy are we, studious are we), ( along we march, we trudge along to happy victory) and ( to take our places in the future of our country) but in my circle, I prefer to use the word world. This will only materialize when you kill laziness.
Therefore I challenge you to get up and start working because you do not have enough time to waste, enough of the time you have wasted. After all, you were ignorant but today salvation has been made possible and now you have gotten to know the truth so say I will never quit until I am done.
