The Wassa Amenfi Development Advocacy Team (WADAT) is undertaking a significant campaign called “No Tarred Road No Election.” This non-partisan group consists of five divisional chiefs (Kwabeng, Agona Amenfi, Ankasie, Domiase, and Adjakaa Manso), as well as 11 other communities, their Assembly members, Unit committee chairmen, Mmerantehene (youth chief), and other opinion leaders along the Asankrangwa-Agona Amenfi through Adjakaa Manso to Sefwi Humjibre road. Their first general meeting was held on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Wassa Ankasie.
Nana Anim Kwaw II, the Tufohene of Wasa Amenfi Traditional Council, served as the chairman of the WADAT team. During the meeting, the Omanhene approved the demonstration. As a result, a mass demonstration has been scheduled for August 25, 2023. The purpose of this demonstration is to highlight the demand for tarred roads before any elections take place. The gathering point for the demonstration will be Wassa Dominase, from where they will walk together to Nso Nyameye accompanied by the mass media. Finally, they will present their petition to the government of Ghana through the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Asankrangwa and the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Manso Amenfi.
It’s fascinating to hear about the youth’s “no tarred road, no election” campaign. This demonstrates their commitment to advocating for improved infrastructure and road conditions before participating in elections. The campaign aims to voice their concerns and demands for better living conditions, specifically through the “No Tarred Road No Election Campaign.” It’s worth noting that this campaign is one among many that have arisen in Wassa Amenfi due to poor road conditions. For example, in May 2023, residents and market vendors faced difficulties when transporting their goods to the market due to the state of the roads.
The campaign serves as a clear call to action, and its leaders are seeking support, guidance, direction, and particularly financial assistance from individuals who have the development of Amenfi at heart.
