In a significant development, Hon. Ignatius Kwasi Afrifa, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the 2024 General elections, has signed a “gentleman’s agreement Contract” with students of Asankrangwa Senior High Technical School (ASECTECH) to secure scholarships for all students who pass the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Speaking at the school’s third SRC celebration on June 1st, 2024, on the school’s campus, Hon. Afrifa emphasized the importance of education and the need for students to excel in their studies. He encouraged them to work hard and pass their exams, assuring them that he would secure GETFUND scholarships for those who meet the requirements.
“The onus is on you to learn hard and pass well,” Hon. Afrifa said. “And when you pass, come and hold my shirt for the scholarship,” he added humorously.
Hon. Afrifa also highlighted his track record in securing scholarships for students in Amenfi West. He mentioned that in the past year, he had managed to obtain ten scholarships for students in the municipality, and this year, the number increased to 45 GETFUND scholarships.
“It’s about leadership and following up,” Hon. Afrifa said. “Leaders must follow up until they get what they want.”
Furthermore, Hon. Afrifa announced his plans to establish an MP’s scholarship program with an annual contribution of GHC100,000. This scholarship would be open to all students in Amenfi West, providing them with financial assistance to continue their education.
Hon. Afrifa emphasized his unwavering commitment to investing in education in Amenfi West. He believes that education is a key factor in levelling the playing field and bridging the class gap in society.
He urged the students to give him their votes, and they will see massive improvements in Wassa Amenfi West, notably on education and youth development.
