It was a significant milestone for Immaculate Conception Parish in Asankrangwa, as it celebrated its second Priestly Ordination Mass in its 125-year history. The event took place on Friday, 8th December, 2023 where two natives of Asankrangwa-Rev. Albert Asare and Rev. Gilbert Sanyiagya Addai joined the ranks of ordained priests, echoing a memorable event from 40 years ago on July 24, 1983, where the late Most Rev. Charles Kweku Sam ordained Rev. Msgr Francis Yaw Tawiah, Rev. Msgr Simon Asamoah, and Very Rev. Fr. Philip Akru Tandoh to the Holy Priesthood. Present at the celebration were 56 Priests.
Dignitaries from different parts of Ghana thronged Asankrangwa Buadum Park. Hon. Afrifa, a prominent member of the community, visited Immaculate Conception Parish, Asankrangwa, to attend the second priestly ordination mass in the parish’s 125-year history. The mass was a significant event for the parish, and Hon. Afrifa’s presence was a testament to the importance of the occasion. He was accompanied by the Regional Minister, Kobby Okyere Darko who represented the vice president, Hon Patrick Hockson Amponteng and Hon Lord Nana Tandoh-MCE of Amenfi West Municipality.
During the mass, Hon. Afrifa was invited to give a speech, in which he congratulated the newly ordained priests and expressed his gratitude to the parish for its contributions to the community. He also highlighted the significance of the ordination, noting that it was a momentous occasion for the parish and the entire community. “Through unity and strong leadership, we can restore hope into the youth and everyone in Wassa Amenfi West”, he added.
