Amenfi West Constituents Outraged Over Apparent Neglect in 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review by Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson

The Finance Minister’s, Hon.Cassiel Ato Forson recent 2025 Mid-Year Economic Progress presentation has ignited a wave of mixed reactions, verging on outrage, among constituents in Amenfi West. The primary source of their discontent stems from the perceived neglect of the Amenfi West Municipality in the budget review, particularly concerning the dire condition of two major road networks: the Asankrangwa-Bawdie road and the Asankrangwa-Bekwai road, which have become a persistent burden on daily life.

One young resident, identified as Sigmund, expressed the prevailing sentiment of frustration, pointedly asking, “When will Amenfi West get their share?” Echoing this frustration, another young man named Joe urged the youth to unite, organize a demonstration, and present a formal petition to the government. He voiced a concern that their elected political leader, Hon. Eric Afful, might not be advocating strongly enough for their needs.

Adding a layer of cynicism, Keneth sarcastically suggested that Amenfi West would only be recognized again in 2028, implying that the constituency is only prioritized during election periods, not for sustained development. This sentiment speaks to a deeper sense of political abandonment.

Ebenezer articulated a more pointed critique, emphasizing the irony that Hon. Eric Afful, the Amenfi West MP, chairs the Economic and Development Planning Committee in Parliament. He found it striking that the Nkwanta-Torompan-Mumuni Road, described as one of Ghana’s worst road network, was omitted from the budget review, especially considering the district’s significance as the highest cocoa producer. Boafo lamented that the Amenfi West Constituency continues to be treated as a non-crucial area of attention for the ruling NDC party. He sarcastically added that in the interim, the DRIP machines provided by the previous NPP government were the only means of resolving the neglected road infrastructure issues in Amenfi West.

Ebenezer concluded by stating that The Amenfi West NDC’s inaction is a self-inflicted hindrance, rather than a reflection of the party as a whole, driven by selfish motivations.  “A lack of change leads to the same outcomes”, he added.

Adding fuel to the fire, Akoto, an NDC communicator in Amenfi West, reportedly responded humorously (and controversially) by stating that Amenfi West constituents, particularly NPP followers, “always rush into orgasm.” This statement, likely intended as a dismissive jab, further inflamed tensions.

As a result of all these, the Amenfi West social media atmosphere remains charged and the political climate is hazy, with ongoing banter and arguments among NPP, NDC, and self-proclaimed neutral residents of Amenfi West, reflecting the deep divisions and frustrations within the Amenfi West  community.
