A counterfeiter Busted in Amenfi West (video+pictures)

A young man has been grabbed by some irate youth in Ankase in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality of the Western Region for engaging in forgery.

For the past few weeks, Momo agents have been grappling with issues of counterfeit transactions.

The suspect uses fake GHC200 in his daily stunt. He goes to momo agents and deposits GHC200 into his momo wallet. He leaves immediately after the transaction has gone through.

The first momo victim in Asankrangwa drew the attention of the entire Momo Agents Association in the municipality to be vigilant with their transactions.

On Friday, 18 March 2023,  a message was put on the momo association’s page that reads, “Let all be vigilant. This guy is roaming about in town doing deposits with fake GHC 200 notes. Anyone who finds him should report him to the police station to be arrested.

A few days later, the young man who engaged in these fake transactions was caught. Luck eluded him at Ankase in the Amenfi West Municipality after he had gone through with his usual modus operandi. The youth of Ankase who were infuriated by the persistent tricks of the young man surrounded him and urged him to give back monies that he has taken from momo agents and other businessmen and women using the fake GHC200 notes.
