Chelsea will try to interview at least five candidates to replace Graham Potter. Julian Nagelsmann has been made the early favourite, with Mauricio Pochettino and Luis Enrique likely to be interviewed.
Talks are likely to also be sought with representatives of Napoli’s Luciano Spalletti and at least one more candidate as Chelsea eye a successor for Graham Potter.
Sources are adamant the availability of Julian Nagelsmann and Tottenham’s decision to part ways with Antonio Conte did not influence the timing of Chelsea’s decision to sack Graham Potter.
Emma Hayes on Graham Potter’s Chelsea departure:
“I’m upset for Graham and the club too. I know everybody wanted to make it work. But if the owners’ feel they have to go in another direction then of course, as always, I support the decisions.”
“I wish Graham the best. I know with 10 games left to play in the Premier League, I’m sure the boys will do everything to get us back on track.”
Well, we didn’t have many good moments under Graham Potter and he was clearly out of his depth here and had to go but will always appreciate the Milan games and Dortmund, wish him the best.
Potter will receive regular severance unrelated to the remaining duration of 5yr contract signed on joining Chelsea from Brighton in Sept 2022. Most of his staff remain at #CFC until exhaustive process to recruit a new head coach is complete.
