On June 13th, 2025, the Samartex Hospital in Samreboi received a substantial donation of essential medical supplies through the philanthropic efforts of the Green May Day organizers, a group of young, community-minded residents. Led by Nana Yaw Fosu (Feders), Mr. Kakyire Kofi Badu, and Mr. Hackman Darren. The group leveraged the success of their annual May Day celebrations to secure vital resources for the local hospital. Through a combination of contributions and sponsorships garnered before and during the event, they were able to procure much-needed equipment and toiletries for the benefit of the community it serves.
The donation, valued at approximately GHC 15,000.00, represents a significant investment in the hospital’s ability to provide quality healthcare. The items presented included two four-fold screens, two wheelchairs, two BP monitors, two flow meters, ten boxes of examination gloves, one box of surgical gloves, and other assorted supplies. These items will directly contribute to improved patient care and overall operational efficiency within the hospital.
Key representatives from the Samartex Hospital were on hand to gratefully receive the donation. Mr. Ransford Quaidoo, the General Manager of Samartex Timber and Plywood Company Limited, Dr. Charles Miezah, the Medical Superintendent of the Samartex Hospital, and Mrs. Christiana Nkoom, the Hospital Administrator, each acknowledged the profound impact of the group’s generosity.
Mr. Quaidoo expressed sincere appreciation for the donation, emphasizing that it demonstrated the Green May Day organizers’ deep concern for the health and well-being of the Samreboi community. He highlighted the critical role that the Samartex Hospital plays as the primary healthcare provider for the region, particularly during challenging times such as the recent strike by the Nurses and Midwifery Association. Quaidoo further noted that the hospital operates as a non-profit entity, making community support all the more crucial. He expressed his hope that this act of kindness would encourage the hospital’s board to maintain its operations and potentially expand its services in the future.
Speaking collectively, Nana Yaw Fosu, Mr. Kakyire Kofi Badu, and Mr. Hackman Darren reaffirmed the Green May Day organizers’ unwavering commitment to supporting the community and providing assistance to those in need. Their donation to the Samartex Hospital serves as a powerful example of the positive change that can be achieved through collective action and a shared dedication to the well-being of others.
