Four individuals have been apprehended in Konongo, Ashanti Region, for their alleged involvement in an attempted robbery. The suspects, identified as Shadrack Anartey, Emmanuel Agyei Donkor, Abu Ali (of Fulani extraction), and Abubakar Buba (a Nigerian national), were arrested on Sunday, October 13, 2024, following an intelligence-led operation.
The operation was initiated after Divisional Commander of Konongo, C/Supol/Mr. Fredrick Asare Mensah, received information from Dsp Nimo of the Anti Armed Robbery Unit Kumasi, indicating that an Urvan bus with registration number AS 4353-15, carrying four individuals, was en route from Kumasi to Konongo with the intention of committing robbery.
Acting on this information, the Divisional Taskforce, led by No.46259 G Sgt. Felix Kofi Sekyere, intercepted the vehicle. A search conducted inside the vehicle revealed two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and 86 rounds of ammunition, concealed within an enclosed compartment.
The suspects were promptly apprehended, and the seized weapons and ammunition were retained as evidence. The Urvan bus has been impounded. The suspects are currently being detained for further investigation under the supervision of D/C/Insp. Augustine Kyei.
