Why do people consider intelligence as the most important thing that glues them to a partner?

 

In a research conducted by Smart Asante and Prince Ayerakwa 2023, 151 respondents were asked to share their views on the most important thing that keeps them glued to their partner. The 150 respondents were asked to select one of the following: sexual prowess, financial strength, physical appearance, intelligence quotient, job/career, emotional attributes and religion.

Intelligent Quotient (IQ) was the factor that most people chose, which was 92 and represents 61% of the pollsters.

Followed by Emotional Attributes 18, Work/Career 14, and Religion, Financial Strength and Religion at par with 7 votes.

At last, was Sexual Prowess.

Why do people consider intelligence?

People may consider intelligence before marrying someone because intelligence is often seen as an important trait in a partner. Intelligence can indicate a person’s ability to think critically, solve problems, and engage in meaningful conversations. It can also have many other qualities in a relationship, as intelligent individuals may have similar values, interests, and goals. Additionally, intelligence can be associated with educational and career achievements, which may be important factors for some individuals when choosing a life partner.

On the other hand, it’s important to note that intelligence is just one aspect of a person, and many other qualities can contribute to a healthy and happy relationship. Emotional intelligence, kindness, compatibility, and shared values are also important considerations. Ultimately, the importance of intelligence in a marriage depends on individual preferences and priorities.
