C/R: Handover Toll Collection to Chiefs Instead of Private Companies – Chief Appeals to Govt (Video)

Nana Kwesi Egyir, Ebusuapanyin for the Nsona No.1 royal family of Amosima in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) Constituency in the Central Region has made a passionate appeal to President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to have the collection of toll levies handed over to chiefs in the country.

He stressed that as rulers in various parts of the country struggle for basic developmental projects which leave Amosima no exception, deems it fit for the president to have chiefs take absolute control in the collection of tolls to aid them to facilitate the development their locality yearns for in order not to wait till government intervenes.

Nana Kwesi Egyir declared this at his well-attended enstoolment ceremony as Ebusuapanyin of the Nsona No.1 royal family of Amosima held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Paado, a suburb of Amosima.

He highlighted that 10 out of the 275 constituencies scattered across the country secure good roads every month through his suggested implementation, which will in a few years propel Ghana to acquire access to better road networks.

Consequently, he pleaded with the government to have the country’s small-scale mining be carried out solely on a manual basis. Thus place a ban on the involvement of heavy machineries in the course of mining which has rendered most of Ghana’s lands the extent of damage witnessed.

According to the Ebusuapanyin, this will help in maintaining Ghana’s virgin lands from being destroyed by galamsey as individuals using their strength to mine wouldn’t have much impact on the country’s lands compared to the use of machines.

Felix Ofusu-Kwakye, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirant for AAK having trooped to grace the occasion, commended the Ebusuapanyin, his Ebusuabaahemaa and Supi for not shunning from their respective leadership positions bestowed upon them.

He described family to be the bedrock of development as nothing on earth is made possible without the involvement of family, hence entreating the enstooled fellows to exhibit the leadership qualities required of them to foster unity and development in their family and Amosima as a whole.
